The success story of Walid, a father of 7 children

Read about the story of Walid, who returned to farming his land with the help of the Agriculture Support Project in Northern Iraq, funded by the International FAO. Walid is a farmer from Al-Azim district, a farmer and a father of 7 children. “I had left agriculture and abandoned my field with the outbreak of war due to the rise in prices and costs of agriculture, which... It led to a low standard of living for my family, who faced difficult times. One day, I learned through announcements from the local council in the town about the project to support vegetable cultivation, which was initiated by the International FAO. After I was accepted as one of the beneficiaries of the project, they provided us with all the agricultural requirements of seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides, and we continued the operations. Planting with the organization’s team, step by step, and we listened to the advice they gave us during the training courses, and now, thanks to God, we have reached the harvest stage. Today the land is back in production. We thank God that the harvest was abundant. I secured the household’s vegetables and sold the surplus.”
