Environmental sustainability is a key aspect of a balanced industrial development. Pollution, climate change, habitat destruction and over-exploitation of natural resources such as fresh water and fisheries are doing great harm to human health, wellbeing and livelihoods, especially among poorer regions, and is undermining the prospects for a long-term resilient and robust economy. One of the prerequisites for industry to flourish in a sustainable manner is the availability of an assured supply of affordable and clean energy, together with improved resource efficiency.
the project goal Environment Protection and addressing the climate change in Iraq. is to decrease the high temperatures in Iraq that caused due to the increase in the thermal power and the desertification which led to in increase the temperatures above the normal range BAORD seeks to support the environmental support programs such agricultural reform, waste management, awareness of the environmental hazards and the climate change programs
BAORD has launched a plan to convert Iraq to one of the most sustainable countries globally.the strategic plan include launching of ambitious initiatives to ensure the sustainability of environment on different levels and sectors, like trees planting initiative to control the climate change and keep the fresh air quality, increase the community awareness to maintain the drinking water resources (wells and local water networks) from pollution and increase the community awareness about the water consumption.waste management initiative by launching cleaning campaigns on the rivers' banks and the areas with contain natural resources.
Iraqi countryside is facing a huge challenges due to drought and desertification in addition to lack of capacity to implement structural treatment in decreasing the initiatives capital and the human development. this initiative will enable the children to make changes in their early stages of life. children fascination with fresh air will lead them to grow up and become responsible and excited to support environment.
The program goal is to plant and maintain the planting of 40,000 trees in Diyala province which will contribute to provide healthy environment in addition to support the local agricultural production in 5 countryside areas in B'aqubah, Muqdadya and Alkhalis
