Child protection policy

Bothoor Alkhayr Relief and Development takes a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse, child exploitation and policy non-compliance. You must endeavor to protect children from abuse and exploitation in the operations of the Bothoor Alkhayr Organization for Bothoor Alkhayr Relief and Development Organization. The Child Protection Policy was approved by the Board of Directors on 24 April 2019. The Board of Directors of BAORD approves and reviews this policy every five years

Child abuse is all forms of physical or mental violence, injury, maltreatment, mistreatment or exploitation, including sexual abuse of a child. Child means every human being under the age of 18 unless the age of majority is reached earlier under applicable law. For the purposes of this policy, BAORD considers the child to be under 18 years of age


Child exploitation and abuse can be one or more of the following: committing or coercing another person to commit an act or acts of abuse against a child; Possession, exploitation, distribution, obtaining or transfer of child exploitation material; Committing or coercing another person to commit an act or acts of online grooming or grooming

Our commitment:

Bothoor Alkhayr will endeavor to fulfill its commitment to protect all children through the following means
To utilize effective hiring and screening processes including criminal background checks for the last 5 years prior to engagement, targeted interview questions and verbal reference checks for all staff who will be working with or in contact with children

Require all employees to be informed of the child protection policy upon their appointment
Require all staff to sign the Child Protection Code of Conduct (below)
Prevent staff from working with children if they pose an unacceptable risk known to the organization to the safety or well-being of children.
Implement child protection in culturally sensitive ways but without condoning actions harmful to children
We recognize that some children, such as children with disabilities, are particularly vulnerable
Do not intentionally involve anyone who poses an unacceptable risk to children
Not knowingly fund any individual or organization that poses an unacceptable risk to children, including illegal child labor practices.
Where appropriate, make clear that all children have equal rights to protection
Where appropriate, ensure that children are heard and consulted and that their rights are fulfilled

Procedures for reporting concerns:

Any suspected or detected misuse, as well as any exploitation and/or non-compliance with the policy must be reported within 24 hours to the CEO of Bothoor Alkhayr or the Board Compliance Officer. Reports should be sent to you@baord.org

Reports should focus on: The nature of the concern and details of the incident as witnessed or disclosed to you. The reporter must take notes at the time of the disclosure or incident, noting what the person to whom it happened says using his or her words and phrases or indicating what he or she witnessed. Do not take notes on the child from disclosing an accident

The report can include details such as the following

.Name of the individual
The current address and/or location of the individual
The name of the suspected attacker
Incident information, including date/time of accident; The scene of the accident
Type of abuse
Reporter's notes, victim's statements
Other people aware of the abuse
If appropriate, a family member or other person responsible for the victim's safety
Name of the reporting party

In cases of suspected or detected misuse, as well as any exploitation or non-compliance with the policy by individuals outside Seeds Al Khair, the Executive Director of Bothoor Alkhayr for Relief and Development or compliance officers from the Board of Directors will determine the best course of action. If the allegations constitute a criminal offense in the jurisdiction in which the matter arises, a referral to the police may be made

In suspected cases of mistreatment by a representative of Bothoor Alkhayr Organization for Relief and Development, such concern will be immediately investigated by the Executive Director of Bothoor Alkhayr Organization for Relief and Development or the Board of Directors Compliance Officer. Until the investigation is completed, the Seeds of Goodness Relief and Development Organization will follow the disciplinary procedures described in the employee or consultant handbook

In all matters dealt with as part of this policy, it is essential to respect the need for confidentiality. In certain circumstances, any lack of confidentiality may have devastating effects on the lives of the individuals involved and may also lead to serious consequences for reporters.
