Bothoor Alkhayr for Relief and Development (BAORD) is committed to the public good, accountability to the public, responsible stewardship of resources, and the highest ethical standards. This Code of Conduct does not cover every issue that may arise, but sets out basic principles to guide staff, advisors and the Board. Our values are supported by the policies and procedures followed by staff and the Board


Personal and professional integrity:

All employees and Board members will conduct themselves with honesty, integrity, and openness in working to achieve the mission of the organization. The organization fosters a work environment that values respect, fairness, dignity and integrity

a task:

The organization has a clear mission and purpose, approved by the Board of Directors. All of its programs support that mission and everyone working for or on behalf of it is expected to understand that mission and its purpose

Value:

Respect for inherent dignity and individual autonomy, including the freedom to make one’s choices and independence

Full and effective participation and inclusion in society
Respecting difference and accepting people with disabilities as part of human diversity and humanity
Equal opportunities

Respect the evolving capabilities of children with disabilities and respect the right of children with disabilities to maintain their identity

We also encourage and promote respect for these additional principles

.Learning and Change: Adopting an open approach to the work we do to advance the rights of people with disabilities. This requires learning from our actions, responding to needs as well as successes, and changing course when appropriate
Partnerships: Encourage the pursuit of a variety of partnerships as part of a strategy to increase capacities and advance rights
Accountability: Commitment to taking responsibility for his actions, especially when in a position of authority
A culture of rights: promoting rights-based policies and programmes
Sustainability: Recognizing the need for community-led operations that can be sustained over the long term in an environmentally friendly manner
Celebrate: Remember the importance of sharing positive experiences, reflecting on accomplishments, and celebrating the diversity around us

Verdict:

The organization has an active Board of Directors responsible for setting the mission, strategic direction, and managing oversight of finances, operations, and policies. The Board will take reasonable steps to

Ensure that its members have the necessary skills and experience to carry out their duties and fulfill their governance duties that work for the benefit of the organization and its purpose.
Have a conflict of interest policy that ensures that any conflicts of interest are avoided, arisen, or are appropriately managed through disclosure, denial, or other means.
Ensure that the CEO and appropriate staff provide the Board of Directors with comprehensive and timely information so that the Board of Directors can effectively perform its duties.
Ensure that the organization conducts all transactions and dealings with integrity and honesty
Ensure that the organization fosters working relationships with donors, board members, staff, consultants, volunteers and donors that are based on mutual respect, fairness and openness.
.Ensure that the organization is fair and inclusive in its policies, hiring and promotion practices for all board positions, staff, advisors and volunteers
Ensure that the organization's policies are written, clearly defined, and formally approved
Ensure that the organization's resources are managed responsibly and wisely
Ensure that the organization has the ability to implement its programs effectively

Iraqi and international charitable works:

The following seven principles (approved by the organization’s Board of Directors / Iraq Center, Principles of Accountability for Domestic and International Philanthropy) are intended to guide the organization’s local philanthropy.

.integrity. Engage in international philanthropy in a way that is consistent with and authentic to our mission, values, vision, and core competencies
.to understand. Take the time to research and understand the political, economic, social, cultural and technological context in which our local philanthropy will take place
.respect. Avoid cultural arrogance by respecting cultural differences and human diversity. Learn about local knowledge, experiences and achievements. Be humble about what we know, what we can accomplish with the resources we have, and what we have yet to learn. When visiting international beneficiaries and partners, we will always keep in mind that we are guests in someone else's country
.Response. Listen carefully to donors and international partners in order to understand their needs and realities and respond appropriately
.Justice. Be rational and flexible in what we ask of our donors and partners, ensuring that our demands are proportional to the level, purpose and nature of our support.

.Cooperation and cooperation. Recognizing that international work requires a high level of collaboration and collaboration between funders themselves and with a diverse range of actors, including organizations of persons with disabilities, NGOs, businesses, governments and multilateral organizations. We strive to work collaboratively in order to maximize resources, build synergy, enhance creativity, and increase learning and impact
.effectiveness. Evaluate whether our local philanthropy is effective by engaging in a mutual learning process with our peers, donors, and partners. Show how our local philanthropy contributes to our organization's mission
.Advancing the public interest. Plan for sustainability and commit to being around long enough to be effective
 

Fundraising:

When raising money, the organization is honest in its solicitation materials. The organization respects donor privacy concerns, spends funds consistent with donor intent, and discloses important and relevant information to potential donors. When raising money from the public, the organization respects the rights of donors

.Be aware of the organization’s mission, how it uses resources and its ability to use donations effectively for intended purposes
To be aware of the identity of those who serve on the organization’s Board of Directors, and to expect the Board to exercise prudent judgment in its oversight responsibilities.
Obtain the organization’s latest audited financial report
To be sure, their talents will be used for the purposes for which they were given
Obtaining appropriate recognition and appreciation
Ensure that information about their donations is treated with respect and confidentiality to the extent required by law
Expect professional behavior and respect from the organization’s employees
Be aware of whether those seeking donations are volunteers, employees of organizations, or hired attorneys.
To provide the opportunity to remove their names from mailing lists that the organization may intend to share
To remain anonymous
Feel free to ask questions when donating and receive quick, honest and frank answers
