International Day of the Girl

On International Day of the Girl, we stand with all Iraqi girls who are victims of early marriage, who have given birth to children without their will or awareness, girls who are victims of exploitation and domestic and societal violence, students who have lost their right to education, and women who work in work environments that are not appropriate for them and their ages. Rasha, a 14-year-old girl, got married at an early age and gave birth to two children after her husband was killed. She stopped studying for years and worked in agriculture to help her family in light of the difficult living and economic conditions. She continued to dream of returning to school until her dream came true, as the #Seeds of Goodness Organization announced. For Relief and Development, one of the programs of the #Back to School Campaign, her reality has changed completely, and she is now in her school among her friends and books. We emphasize the need to support girls from the psychological, educational, health and social aspects in order to try to fill the gaps that they suffered from during the years of ongoing war in Iraq, so that in the future they will be an integral part of building and developing society.
